creativemess

there’s no such word really as creativeness – but there should be. even more so there should be the word creativemess. it’s something that is really good for the soul.

there’s a place for the kind of creativity that follows a structure- the exquisite orders of nature, the construction of a snowflake, the rings inside a tree trunk, the petals of a flower and how they make perfect almost identical but never identical shapes. but where humans really come into their own is in their ability to make mess – to play, without aim or goal, in the place where destruction meets creation. as order seems to be taking over – and order is aligned to control – making a mess becomes a reclamation of freedom, of the power inherent in just letting things happen, letting them happen through you. being a part of that.

it’s a release. because the urge to control is really energy consuming, and when it’s applied to things that can’t be controlled, like feelings for example, it can wear you down and make you lose your intuition, your wisdom and the power to stand up for what you believe in and do what you need to do.

so if you want to get those things back, my advice to you, although it may seem a circuitous route, is just throw some paint around, throw your body around, throw some food in the pan, just make a mess.
