My body began vibrating! It was as if Sarah had known what I’d wanted long before I did. She is exquisite, the absolute perfect cover for my book. I still get a thrill every time I look at her there, wrapping her arms around my book of poems.
I have positioned ‘The Comet’ on the wall in my bedroom so that she’s the first thing I see waking up every morning. I love gazing into her depths, which I find simultaneously calming and inspiring, while I contemplate the day ahead. Too, I love allowing myself to become mesmerized by her shimmering light at mid-day, sitting at my writing desk, sipping a cup of honey-sweetened Paris tea. She reconnects me with beauty when the busyness of life threatens to overwhelm me.
Sarah painted The Comet using her phenomenal intuitive painting process in collaboration with me tapping into my felt sense of what might serve my creativity. I found the whole process to be revelatory. I gave Sarah a short list of colors that gave me a tingly, “that’s it!” feeling. We touched base back and forth, adding a bit more of this color or that, always tuning into that felt sense as a kind of north star.
The result is a painting that speaks to me in a way I’ve never experienced before. My Comet always seems to give me exactly what I need in the moment—peace, invigoration, or insight—often accompanied by a feeling of transcending the here and now. Sometimes I see in her a beautiful eye that gleams back at me with wonder and love. Sometimes she’s a portal to other dimensions. Sometimes she’s a flaming comet, rocketing me into the great beyond.
